SIG
Sunday May 5, 2013
Session #156
1:00:00 PM – 2:30:00 PM Room TCC 303
“Understanding the role biofilm and infections in keratoprosthesis”
The aim of this SIG is to discuss different aspects of biofilm formation as a key in infections and surface material selection in the context of keratoprosthesis. Incorporating aspects of surface and tissue imaging and detection of biofilm will help identify the three facets that might affect biointegration in keratoprosthesis: chemical, mechanical and biological sources.
Organiser:
Deborah Sweeney
Moderators:
Jose de la Cruz, Victor Perez
Opening comments (4 min): The evolution of KPros and infections
Michael Belin
Panel Discussion (12 min): Biofilm in keratoprosthesis, infection or inflammation Relations between biofilm and infection
Darlene Miller

2010 meeting Sept 16-20 in Beijing
October 16, 2009 by · Leave a Comment
The APAO (Asia Pacific Assoc of Ophthalmology) will hold its 2010 meeting Sept 16-20 in Beijing, China. They expect over 5,000 participants. Last year’s meeting in Bali, was both highly successful and enjoyable.
There will be a dedicated 90 minute symposium on Keratoprosthesis. This will cover all forms of KPro. I, Michael W Belin, will chair and organize the symposium. We typically have 8-9 speakers. The APAO has in the past waived all registration for speakers, but travel and hotel are left up to the individual.
If any one would be interested in speaking I would ask that they forward me their contact information and at least two possible titles.
Additionally, there are many other Cornea / External Disease sessions, so if anyone has other topics they may want to talk on please let me know and I can forward these to the proper individual.
Please contact me via email at MWBelin@aol.com
